I saw the story in a mailing list and was completely shocked - I have two sons
with Asperger's and can't imagine how the government can do such a thing. Even
after Nate is released, it will take months or years of therapy to get him back to where he was.

People with Asperger's can - and do - function normally and can be very
successful, especially in technical fields where the lack of social skills is
less of an impediment, and the focus and single minded attention to detail in a
narrow range of subjects, so typical for people with Asperger's, can actually be
a plus. But they don't have the social and non-verbal communication skills that
others take for granted - they need to be taught the most basic things in that
area."

"I've joined the group and been reading the posts.....the more i learn about this
case the more outraged i am.This is unbelievable! All these people have to be hold
accountable for what they've done to this child! I hope the lawyer you found is good. Accused of
a "wrong set of believes"?????? This is unconstitutional! Last time i checked OC was still America?????
